NICSSA & NICS Hockey Club Gala Dinner
27.3.2009
On Friday 27th March 2009, NICSSA in association with the NICS Hockey Club ran a hugely successful Gala Fundraising Dinner at The La Mon House Hotel and Country Club. Guests were treated to a drinks reception on arrival, followed by an excellent 4 course meal and a great evening’s entertainment.
Guest speakers on the night were former Ulster, Ireland and British Lions winger Tyrone Howe, and Mr Paul Fletcher MBE, who is currently managing director of Burnley F.C and is one of Europe’s leading stadium development experts, both of whom treated the audience to tales from their sporting pasts. Master of ceremonies for the evening was Mr. Colin Barclay, who kept everyone entertained throughout the night.
Following the meal, an auction and a prize draw took place. In the auction, there were 3 items up for sale. First to go under the hammer was a cricket bat signed by the Ireland Cricket team. The next item to go up for sale was a signed portrait of the major political figures at Stormont, which was titled ‘Harmony on the Hill.' Our main auction item on the night was a Liverpool shirt signed by the first team squad and manager Rafa Benitez.
The purpose of the evening was to raise funds towards the development of two new hockey pitches and seven 3G football pitches with additional pitch side changing at the Pavilion Complex, Stormont Estate. An enjoyable evening was had by all in attendance and substantial funds were raised towards the capital development project.
